![]() ![]() In both amps, you'll probably want to change the tubes. It doesn't sound boxy like the AC4C1-BL, and with a little help from a cheap EQ pedal, you can dial in the missing bass. So, for bedroom use my recommendation is the AC4C1-12. I probably could have achieved this without replacing the output transformer too, but thats water under the bridge at this point. I bought it, set it for a slight bass boost, and now my AC4 totally hits the mark in every way. Then, one day I was browsing the pedals at GC, and they had a Behringer EQ pedal, used, for $10. I replaced the output transformer with one I had on hand of better quality, and it made a huge improvement in the fullness and headroom of the amp - I think putting it on par with the AC10 in many ways. I didn't want to loose the chime, so I didn't remove the bright caps in mine. A lot of people clip out the bright caps in order to cope with that, but many still feel it lacks bass. Its a great amp, and if I needed something to take out of the house, it would have been my choice.
